Member bios

L.B. (Beth) Greenwood - President

Beth Greenwood is the author of four novels, published by such companies as Simon and Schuster, Athenaeum, St. Martin's and Coward McCann, as well as of numerous short stories and articles. A former teacher, she has a B.A. and M.A. and some Phd studies in English, and has given workshops and presentations from coast to coast.

She has been a CAA representative for both the Public Lending Rights and Access Copyright organizations, and is often called by the local public library as a resource for writing and publishing information.

She was given the Sangster Award for outstanding work for CAA.

Lorraine Drdul - Public Relations and Programs Chair

Born in Vancouver but raised in Montreal, Lorraine Drdul began to write poetry as a schoolgirl. She returned West to complete a BA at UBC. From there life took her and her family to five cities across Canada as well as to Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone.

Several years ago Lorraine returned to her love of writing. She joined our CAA branch where her efforts receive encouragement and solid constructive criticisms from her colleagues. Under such tutelage she has produced one self-published children's book and recently contributed an article to Okanagan Life Magazine. At present Lorraine is rewriting some poems and a story.

Stan Sauerwein - Webmaster

Stan Sauerwein started writing professionally while still in elementary school. He's worked as a reporter, editor and publisher of newspapers, magazines and newsletters. He currently has 16 books published and literally thousands of article credits. Focused mostly on business and feature writing, in the last several years he has also been writing fiction and creative non-fiction and presenting writing workshops.

"How to write non-fiction book queries"

Stan Sauerwein will be hosting a workshop for this series being organized by Dona Sturmanis. Stan is the author of 15 non-fiction books. Participants are invited to supply a current query they have prepared in advance for some helpful comment and group discussion. BC Book & Magazine Week Magazine Cabaret April 25, Location to be Determined, 7pm, cost $5
"Magazine Cabaret"

The BC Association of Magazine Publishers is coordinating BC Book & Magazine Week with the Association of Book Publishers of BC. More detail on this four-city event is available on the BC BOOK AND MAGAZINE website.

Stan Sauerwein will join a group of Okanagan-area writers for brief readings. Presented by the Monahan Agency, the event will also offer magazine samples, refreshments and a "meet and greet" after the readings. Last year CBC’s Marion Barschel hosted this event and Off-Centre magazine presented the evening at the Art Ark. A very popular evening with plenty of literary surprises!
